Say hello to Ethel

Keymac USA has recently supplied a KCM2 Semi Automatic End Load Cartoner to Coda Signature Chocolate for its new facility in California. The chocolate manufacturer, who infuses its chocolate with cannabis oil, packs the product in a child resistant carton on the KCM2 machine which is known in the plant as “Ethel”. Ethel works downstream from “Lucy”, the chocolate moulding line. The two “ladies” are proving to be “a hell of a duo” commented Brien Sauchelli, Coda’s Director of Facilities.

The child resistant carton features both tuck and glue closure on one side giving tamper evidence and glue closure on the other. The tray in which the bar of chocolate is placed has tabs on the sides which locate into cut outs in the side of the carton when the product is inserted. Removing the product from the carton requires a certain amount of dexterity which is beyond the capabilities of a child (or perhaps someone who has eaten too much of the chocolate!)
